5 Common Causes for Professional Air Conditioning Repair in Ovilla, TX

In Texas, where the heat and humidity tend to be high, and even oppressive, most people rely on air conditioning to keep their homes cool and comfortable. With frequent use, however, like any other appliance, an HVAC system can experience problems, and when that happens, conditions inside your house can get really uncomfortable – and downright dangerous – pretty quickly.

To avoid a hot, sweaty, and potentially hazardous situation as soon as you notice an issue with your HVAC system, calling in a professional air conditioning repair technician as soon as possible is an absolute must. While there are several issues that can affect an AC system, the following are some of the most common reasons why Dallas County homeowners request the help of a professional Ovilla, TX AC repair technician.

The System Stops Working Completely

Without a doubt, one of the most common reasons that Dallas County homeowners need professional air conditioning repair is because their systems stop working completely. In other words, it doesn’t turn on or unexpectedly shuts down. Sometimes, simply changing the batteries in the thermostat or flipping the switch that powers the AC in the circuit breaker may resolve the problem; however, the issue may not be so simple. Often, when an HVAC system stops functioning altogether, the problem is more serious and requires more complex repairs.

If your AC won’t turn on or it abruptly stops functioning, if changing the batteries in the thermostat or switching the circuit breaker doesn’t resolve the issue, you’re definitely going to want to schedule an appointment with a Ovilla, TX AC repair professional.

The Air isn’t Cold

When an air conditioner seems to be working but the air blowing out of the vents isn’t cool, a dirty air filter may be to blame or the thermostat could be the cause. If, however, after changing out the air filter and checking to make sure that the thermostat is flipped to “cool” and is on an appropriate temperature setting, a call to a professional Ovilla, TX AC repair technician is definitely warranted.

There are several reasons why an HVAC system may be blowing out hot air even though it’s set to cool. A refrigerant leak, damaged condenser coils, or evaporator coil issues could be the source of the issue; all issues that need to be addressed by an air conditioning repair professional.

Uneven Cooling

Uneven cooling – that is, the air blowing out of some of the vents is warm while the air blowing out of other vents is cool – is another issue that requires a call to a Ovilla, TX AC repair technician. There are a variety of issues that can result in uneven cooling; leaks in the ductwork, blocked registers and vents, and inadequate insulation is just some of the factors that can contribute to this common issue.

If your AC isn’t cooling your Dallas County home evenly, and it’s an issue that you never had before, you’re definitely going to want to schedule an appointment with a licensed air conditioning repair technician.

Water Leaks

When water starts dripping from any of the components of a central air conditioner – the vents or the condenser, for example – a professional air conditioning repair technician should definitely be called in.

Drips are a surefire sign that something is wrong with the system, which not only means that the AC system won’t be able to efficiently cool your Dallas County home, but if neglected, the dripping water could lead to even more serious problems that could cause even more damage to the system, and that could also damage your Dallas County home.

Dripping water could be the result of clogs in the lines, or it could be caused by cracks, holes, or other damage in the ductwork or pipes. To prevent further damage and more costly repairs, dripping water needs to be addressed by a professional.

Strange Noises

Loud banging or clanging noises, screeching and squealing, whirring and buzzing; if an HVAC system is making strange noises, it needs to be assessed by a Ovilla, TX AC repair technician. While air conditioners do make some degree of noise even when they’re working properly, typically, that noise is minimal and usually, you don’t even really notice it. If the sounds coming from the system are alarmingly odd and loud, you’re going to want to schedule an appointment with an air conditioning repair company.

Those odd sounds could indicate an issue with the motor, a problem with the blower assembly, a clog in the ductwork, disconnected components, broken belts, and other potentially serious issues. If the sources of those noises aren’t addressed, you can pretty much bet that the damage will worsen, the noise will get louder, and you could be looking at even more serious problems and costlier repairs.

Some information about Ovilla, TX

Ovilla is a city in Dallas and Ellis Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 3,492 at the 2010 census.

Ovilla, on upper Red Oak Creek in northern Ellis County, is the oldest town in the county. It began in 1844 as a fortified settlement known as McNamara’s to repel Indian incursions. James McNamara arrived in 1843 with his new wife, Joanna (Hale) McNamara as the first Peters Colony settlers of this area for which they received 640 acres that made up the beginning of the locale that was later to be called ‘Shiloh’ for a nearby creek and a newly formed church. The McNamaras arrived with other Peters colonists: the Billingsleys; Mrs. McNamara’s family, the McCommas’s; and James Sterrett (Mrs. McNamara’s brother-in-law, who established Sterrett, Texas). The marriage of James Sterrett to Clarinda (Hale) Squires of 7 Jul 1844 was the first marriage to be performed here within the future boundaries of Ellis County, which was still within old Robertson County at the time. James McNamara served as sergeant in Smith’s Company of Texas Mounted Volunteers during the War with Mexico in 1846-1847 along with his brother-in-law, James Sterrett. The little village grew as other Peters Colony settlers arrived in the area to attend brush arbor meetings of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, which was started by Rev. Finis E. King in 1847. James McNamara died in New Orleans 5 May 1852, and his widow liquified his assets and left Texas for the gold fields in Tuolumne County, California, with all of her remaining maternal family members.

The church met in a brush arbor until 1853, when a log cabin, which served as both church and schoolhouse, was built. A frame church building was finished in 1872; in 1984, about 190 members still met in the structure, which had been enlarged and remodeled. The church was instrumental in moving Trinity University to Waxahachie in 1902 and in establishing a girls’ school in the nearby town of Milford.

Although Ovilla was a thriving farming community by the 1850s, it remained unnamed. Mrs. M. M. Molloy, wife of Rev. D. G. Molloy, formed the name from the Spanish word villa. Ovilla continued to grow, and by the early 1900s, had a post office, a bank, a cotton gin, a pharmacy, a blacksmith shop, and several dry-goods stores. Its post office closed in 1906. Fires in 1918 and 1926 destroyed most of the downtown buildings, and this destruction, together with the fact that Ovilla was bypassed by railroads and major highways, led to a decline in growth.
